Your state entry route
Oregon certifies Unarmed Private Security Professionals through DPSST. Applicants must be at least 18, meet education requirements, and satisfy background and moral-fitness standards.
Complete the 14-hour Unarmed Basic classroom, assessment, and examination course with a DPSST-certified instructor.
Check eligibility
Review education evidence and DPSST's mandatory and discretionary background disqualifiers.
Complete the course
Obtain the instructor's PS-6 training affidavit.
Submit the packet
Send PS-1, fingerprint evidence, training proof, and applicable payment.
Confirm your start
Work after certification or a valid employer-specific PS-20 temporary permit, following its conditions.
Confirm your situation
Submit training evidence within its 180-day validity period.
