Your state entry route
Ordinary employed guards work under a licensed protective agent. The employer arranges fingerprint checks and issues each employee an identification card.
Complete at least 12 hours of required preassignment training within the first 21 days of employment through the applicable board training route.
Join a licensed employer
Confirm the company's protective agent license and the category of your job.
Complete screening
Supply fingerprints and written consent for the employer's BCA and FBI background checks.
Complete required training
Arrange the 12-hour course and retain completion records.
Confirm clearance and carry ID
Begin guard duties after the employer confirms eligibility and issues your identification card.
Confirm your situation
Conditional employees may train while awaiting the required BCA clearance.
General preparation does not automatically satisfy required board training.
