Your state entry route
First-time contract security officers need company-affiliated registration. Requirements changed on August 1, 2026, placing training and clearance before the first assignment.
Complete 16 classroom hours covering S.O.S.T. 1101 and 1102, or approved equivalents, and pass the required examinations.
Create your portal profile
Upload a passport-quality photograph and complete the initial security officer application.
Connect your employer
Request affiliation with a licensed company, which accepts it and uploads identification and Form I-9.
Complete checks and training
Pay the registration fee, complete the background check and finish the required training.
Receive your card
Start after receiving valid registration displaying your company affiliation.
Confirm your situation
Older 30-day and 60-day training timelines predate the 2026 changes.
General preparation does not automatically satisfy board-approved training.
