Your state entry route
Unarmed guards need Delaware's Yellow Card. You can train and apply before being hired, then work through a licensed Delaware security agency.
Complete board-approved training and pass the separate state exam before licensing. Training and testing also apply at renewal.
Check eligibility
Review the age-18 minimum and criminal-history standards in the State Police guidance.
Train and pass the exam
Use an approved training option, then take the exam through Delaware Technical Community College; 75% is required.
Apply and fingerprint
Follow the current application and IdentoGO instructions, including the required certificates and photograph.
Join an agency
Confirm agency employment and carry your valid card whenever performing guard duties.
Confirm your situation
Delaware does not offer guard-license reciprocity with other states.
Career preparation is supplementary to Delaware's required training and exam.
