Your state entry route
Arizona regulates unarmed guards employed by licensed security guard agencies through DPS registration. Coordinate your application and training verification with an agency.
Complete eight hours of unarmed pre-assignment training through a DPS-registered instructor authorized for the agency before submitting the application.

Review DPS eligibility questions and confirm the agency's application process.
Complete training
Obtain the signed training verification from the authorized instructor and agency.
Submit documents
Provide the application, fingerprints, identification, photograph, and applicable payment following current DPS instructions.
Receive your card
Wait for the valid guard card before working a security post.
Confirm your situation
A pending application does not authorize a security assignment.
Video-only preparation cannot satisfy the required instructor-led training.

Arizona’s entry route includes eight hours of unarmed training with a DPS-registered, authorised instructor before application. The instructor-led course covers state requirements and leads to the signed Training Verification Form.
